I received a lovely email from a “She Blossoms” reader, asking how to figure out what he should do with his life (yes, even guys want to Blossom! :-) ).
In 6 Practical Ways to Find God’s Call on Your Life, I share a few ideas for figuring out your purpose, mission, calling.
If you don’t know what to do or where you want to go, give yourself time and space to Blossom. How many flowers bloom when they’re straining to grow? None. How many seeds sprout by trying really really hard to poke through the soil? Zip. How many watermelons ripen by clenching their fists and focusing on creating juicy red goodness? Zero.
Find the balance between moving forward and letting God lead. Take a step in the direction that makes sense to you, then pause. Are the doors open or closed? Do you feel inspired or hesitant?
Change course if necessary.
Above all, don’t let fear direct your steps. Fear will guide you down the wrong path and twist you up. Fear will mislead and misguide you, and stop you from Blossoming into the person God created you to be.
Question for you
Have you figured out your purpose in life? Where are you going, who do you want to be, why are you here?
I didn’t know my purpose until I started freelance writing and blogging in 2008. Even then, it took me about seven years to figure out the “She Blossoms” concept and solidify my reason for being a writer. But I never would have figured it out if I hadn’t started blogging.
Don’t wait until you know what your purpose is. Try something — anything that you’re curious about, see an opportunity in, or have been asked to do.
If it doesn’t feel right, then stop. Pivot. Choose something else. But don’t stop moving, or you may never get going again.
And that, my friend, is how you will Blossom.
In peace and passion,
