These tips will help you figure out the best way to get pregnant. How do you know which tip will work for you? By trying each one, step by step.
A Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test is the most common product you’ll see when you search for the best way to get pregnant. Why? Because you want to time intercourse so your eggs are ready when the sperm is fresh. A fertility nurse once told me that sperm ages, just like meat does. Fresh sperm is always better than old sperm, which is why an ovulation predictor is one of the best ways to get pregnant. It gives women a greater chance of detecting their fertile days, even if their cycle lengths are variable. This digital ovulation test is over 99% accurate at detecting your LH surge, and you can take the test any time of the day.
On Reasons You Can’t Get Pregnant – A Fertility Checklist, a reader said she has irregular periods. “Sometimes I skip a period, other times I get two short periods in one month. What’s the best way to get pregnant if your periods aren’t regular?” she asked. It depends on why her periods are irregular. Health issues can affect conception, which is why these tips for getting pregnant won’t guarantee a baby (not even a gynecologist or fertility doctor can do that!). But, these are some of the best practical ways to get pregnant…
It’s super important for both you and your husband to remember that it’s not just the woman who needs to focus on the best way to get pregnant. Your body is only 50% of the equation. Your partner’s body is equally responsible for any pregnancy successes or disappointments that happen.
The Best Way to Get Pregnant
The most important thing is to get comfortable talking about things you’re not used to, such as “cervical position” and “ovulation calculator” and “irregular periods.” If you’re too shy to ask your doctor about the best way to get pregnant, then it may take longer than it should for you to conceive a baby.
Here are a variety of tips. Work your way through these, let me know when you’ve tried them all. I can’t offer health advice, but sometimes it helps to share your experience.
Check your husband’s sperm
Of course YOU yourself can’t check your husband’s sperm to see if it’s standing in the way of getting pregnant 🙂 But if you and he haven’t talked about male fertility, then it’s time. My friend’s husband refused to get his sperm tested. He said there was nothing wrong with it, so why should he do a semen analysis? That was 15 years ago, and they’re still pregnant. Ignoring the fact that sperm is part of conception – and not all sperm is healthy – is not the best way to get pregnant.
Your husband needs to learn how to talk about male fertility issues, such as “male factor infertility” and “sperm test” and “semen analysis.” If he hasn’t taken any male fertility tests, then he needs to learn what a semen analysis is.
Take your temperature to learn when you’re ovulating
The 3M Digital Basal Thermometer is a different way to track when you’re ovulating, but it’s a bit simpler than the ovulation predictor tests.
Your basal body temperature is your normal body temperature when you wake up in the morning (if you’re healthy). Your basal body temperature will normally rise after you ovulate, because of hormonal changes. So if your temperature increases near the middle of your menstrual cycle, then ovulation may have occurred. Time to have sex!
For some women, tracking the changes in your temperature is the best way to get pregnant. It’s not the same for every woman, though – which is why there is no one best tip for conceiving a baby.
Don’t obsessively search for “the best way to get pregnant”
There isn’t one right or best way for a woman to get pregnant. Even gynecologists and fertility doctors don’t know why some women conceive right away, and others try for years without missing a period. That’s why 33% of couples who can’t get pregnant are dealing with unexplained infertility: the doctors can find no reason for not conceiving.
Try not to obsess about finding the best way to get pregnant. Instead, strive for a healthy balance of preparing your body for pregnancy, increasing your chances of getting pregnant, and having faith.
Learn about cervical position and getting pregnant
Finding out the position of your cervix will help you know if there is an optimal position for sex. Every woman is different, which means our cervixes are shaped and positioned differently.
I don’t know what your cervical position is – and I bet you don’t, either! Talk to your family doctor or gynecologist. If your cervix is positioned in an unusual way, then you need to learn if you should change the position you have intercourse in. This is one of the lesser-known tips for getting pregnant, which is why I included it here.
In Need Help Getting Pregnant? 5 Ways to Conceive a Baby, I offer more about the best way to get pregnant.
Trust that you WILL get pregnant
Have faith that even though it’s taking longer than you expect to conceive, you WILL get pregnant! Most women do, and most couples have children together. Learning how to trust that God loves you and wants the best for you will help you relax, which may make your body more receptive to a pregnancy.
You know that being stressed and anxious is not the best way to get pregnant. If you’re overwrought with anxieties and fears about not conceiving a baby, you might spend less time trying to find the best way to get pregnant. Instead, take three months to unwind emotionally. Do things that relax your mind, body, and soul. Hold your desire for a baby loosely instead of tightly. Connect with your husband as a man and best friend, not just a sperm donor.
In How to Pray for a Baby, I share prayers for women who want to conceive. You’re welcome to say your prayer on that page. Trusting God is of course the best way to get pregnant…and trusting that He knows what He is doing. He loves you, and will bless you with a baby when the time is right.
I welcome your thoughts on the best way to get pregnant, but I can’t offer advice. Talk to your doctor if you’ve been trying to conceive for over a year.
