Weight Loss Shortcuts From Dr Oz – From Apples to Gym Bags

Dr Oz’s weight loss tips are easy and fast – which is why they’re called weight loss shortcuts! They’ll help you lose one pound a week or 52 pounds a year – which is the best, healthiest way to lose weight.

“The key to weight loss is to elevate your metabolic rate as much as possible,” says Bob Greene, author of The Best Life Guide to Managing Diabetes and Pre-Diabetes. “That’s why you should perform regular intense aerobic activity at least three days a week, and some kind of activity every day, even if it’s simply walking around the neighborhood. When you exercise regularly, you gradually increase your metabolism so it stays elevated for longer stretches of time. The result: More fat burned and more weight dropped.”

There’s no way around it: to lose weight you need to decrease your calorie intake and increase your calorie burn (metabolism).

Dr Oz’s Tips for Losing Weight Fast

Eat an apple before lunch

Penn State research shows that if you eat an apple 15 minutes before lunch, you’ll eat 187 less calories at lunch. The idea is to fill your stomach up with the fiber in the apple (volumetrics – my favorite type of diet!), and you’ll eat less at lunch. In a year, you can lose five pounds with this weight loss shortcut. I know it doesn’t sound like a weight loss shortcut — but trust me, it adds up!

Refrigerate your canned goods (my favorite Dr Oz weight loss tip)

This is my favorite weight loss shortcut: put canned soups, stews, and other items in the fridge. When you open them, you’ll see that the fat has solidified on the surface, and you can scrape it off and throw it away. In a year, you can lose six pounds with this weight loss shortcut. You’ll lose more weight if you normally eat a lot of canned soups and stews.

Dilute your juice

Dr Oz’s third tip for losing weight fast involves diluting your juice with seltzer. This cuts the number of calories you drink by half. In a year, you’ll consume 48 fewer pounds of sugar with this weight loss shortcut – and you’ll lose 13 pounds!

Fake a carbohydrate

Carbohydrates spike your blood sugar, which increases your risk of diabetes. If you substitute a vegetable in place of a pasta or potato, you’ll decrease your carb intake significantly, which will keep your blood sugar levels balanced. Fake spaghetti with spaghetti squash and fake mashed potatoes with caulifouwer. In a year, you can lose 12 pounds with this tip for losing weight.

Replace oils with apple sauce

Dr Oz loves this weight loss tip: take the oil that you’d normally add to brownies or muffins, and replace half of it with apple sauce. The brownies or muffins with the sauce will be moister and healthier. In a year, you can lose six pounds with this weight loss tip.

Swap gym bags with a friend

To lose weight fast, you don’t need to literally swap your exercise bag with a friend. Rather, Dr Oz’s tip means commiting to exercising with a friend three times a week. Research shows that people are much more willing to work out and lose more weight if they have a partner. We’re less likely to disappoint our friends, and we’re more encouraged and motivated to exercise – and achieve our weight loss goals – if we’re with a friend. In a year, you can lose 13 pounds with this weight loss shortcut. To lose weight, Dr Oz says to eat a lot of fiber, fish, fowl (lean chicken and other birds), and fat (healthy fat, such as olive oil, in moderation).

Weight Loss Shortcuts That Don’t Work, Says Dr Oz

The Hormone (HCG) Diet

The Hormone (HCG) Diet doesn’t work – it can have a disastrous effect on your metabolism. The HCG diet pills can in theory take away your hunger, but you’re basically starving yourself…and that will backfire in the long run. You won’t achieve your weight loss goals – you’ll gain the weight back.

100 calorie snack packs

100 calorie snack packs don’t work – they often contain of trans fats, corn syrups, and other unhealthy products. Plus, they’re expensive and bad for the environment (all that extra packaging). A better way to lose weight fast is to make your own 100 calorie snack packs at home (raisons, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, etc).

  1. have lost 107 lbs. can't get last twenty off!

    I know what to do but can’t lose the last twenty. I have cardiomyopathy, stage 3 chronic kidney and diabetes. I have lost 107 pounds and am 5’3 135 on a small frame all belly and boobs help! I run every other day and stretch and floor every other day and I eat clean except the once in awhile chesseburger.
