These fitness gift ideas aren’t just for the “gym rat” in your life – they’re perfect for regular people who want to sprinkle a little health and wellness into their lives. The first gift is perfect for the young and fit, or even the middle-aged and not-so-fit…
In my quest to collect fitness gifts that go beyond pedometers, I found the EatSmart Precision GetFit Digital Body Fat Scale. It’s not your ordinary bathroom scale – it can quickly and easily measure weight, body fat, body water, body muscle and bone mass with new BIA (Bio-Electrical Impedance Analysis) technology. This technology allows you to easily calculate your body fitness by imputing information of gender, height, age, activity level and your weight.
This Precision GetFit Scale is first on my list of fitness gifts because it stores up to 8 different users’ personal profiles, and recognizes those users as soon as they step onto the scale. This auto recognition software makes it simple to operate, since all you have to do is stand on the platform barefoot and it identifies who you are based on past weight. This encourages health and wellness by providing immediate, accurate information about body weight, fat, water, and muscle – and this knowledge keeps us motivated to stay fit (if not become an actual gym rat!).
Fitness Gifts That Encourage Health and Wellness
Put yourself in your loved one’s running shoes before you buy a gift to encourage health and wellness in his life. What sports or activities does he love to do, and how can you support that?
For instance, I am not a gym rat and I never, ever will be. I love my home yoga and Pilates DVDs – which I describe in Best Yoga DVDs for Weight Loss, Stretching, and Energy. I’m also not interested in my weight or muscle mass, so the fitness scale wouldn’t be a good gift for me.
When you’re scrolling through these fitness gifts, keep your eye out for ideas that support the activity your loved one already likes to do. This increases the chances you’ll give a gift that actually supports and encourages health and wellness.
A rebounder for people who love to jump
I love what I call “mini trampolines”, which are actually Needak R01 Rebounder – Soft Bounce. The Soft-Bounce spring absorbs as much as 85% of the impact of each bounce, and the rebounder is great for a quick, fun, invigorating burst of exercise and energy at home or in the office. It’s easy to learn, easy to use, and provides incredibly efficient low impact exercise in all weather, for people off all ages and fitness levels. This is a fitness gift that encourages health and wellness by making exercise fun and easy.
“Rebounding is one of the most fun, least painful exercises out there — especially for the benefits you get from it,” writes Barrie Davenport in 40 Hobbies For Women To Strengthen Your Brain And Body. ” It involves jumping, running, or dancing on a strong mini trampoline for a period of time. Not only does it improve your fitness level, but also it is great for your lymphatic system. It’s inexpensive, portable, and easy.”
Wii Fit Plus with balance board for tech people
The Wii Fit Plus With Balance Board includes bowling, tennis, boxing, aerobics, yoga – Wii is a great way to try all those activities without leaving home! It’s not all fun and games, though…some programs, like yoga, teach you new poses and skills.
The beauty of this fitness gift is that users can input the amount of time they want to spend on their workouts or select an area for personal improvement. Wii Fit Plus will suggest a number of diverse activities for them. And – for the first time – users can mix and match which strength and yoga activities they prefer on a given day. The seamless exercise flows make it easier than ever for users to maintain their daily workout routines. The range of games and customization options will make players want to play every day, which is a fantastic way to improve their health and wellness. This fitness gift is fun for both individual and group use.
Wii Zumba for people who love to dance

Pedometer – a surprisingly good fitness gift for improving health and wellness
I’m including the Omron HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer on this list of fitness gifts – even though I said at the beginning that I was collecting ideas that go beyond pedometers. Why? Because of the 6,122 customer reviews of this pedometer on Amazon!
This isn’t the cheap plastic pedometer I was given when I joined the community gym ten years ago. This one has Omron dual axis technology, and counts steps accurately and quietly whether positioned vertically or horizontally. It automatically resets daily to accurately track steps, and stores up to 7 days of information in memory. There are six tracking modes: track steps, aerobic steps, time, distance, calories and fat grams burned.
If you’re shopping for a fitness gift for someone who has a long road ahead in terms of improving their health and wellness, the pedometer is a great start. Is your gift recipient healing from a recent operation? Read Post Surgery Gift Ideas to Help With Recovery and Healing.
Womens’ fitness pants – a gift that inspires energy
Lupo Women’s Calca Strong Pants are compression leggings with a seamless dry technology. The tag-less back allows for comfort and no chafing, and the wide waistband makes these one of the most comfortable fitness gifts for health and wellness. Personally, I love the wide waistband because it flattens my tummy! And, the compression leggings make my thighs and butt look slimmer.

Fruit infusing water bottle for thirsty fitness lovers
The Fruit Infuser Leak Proof Water Bottle is an easy, delicious, and fun way to improve health and wellness on a daily basis. It may improve energy and mental clarity, increase metabolism, decrease toxins, and create glowing skin….but I just like drinking water that tastes like fresh fruit 🙂
You can infuse regular tap or bottled water in this Fruit Infuser with whatever fruit you love best: strawberries, oranges, raspberries, etc. Some people even add herbs (basil or mint, for instance) to make their water taste different.
