Questions?

Got a question about writing, publishing, editing, or pitching to editors? Ask me here!

I’ll answer any writing, publishing, editing, or book marketing question below — but don’t ask me what the future holds for your writing career, because I can’t reveal what I know  ;-)

Seriously, whether your focus is fiction, magazine writing, blogging, or earning money as a freelance or other type of writer – please feel free to ask me. If you’d like to know more about my experiences as “The Adventurous Writer”, I’m happy to share!

Ask your question, and I’ll answer within a couple of days.

    Laurie,

I bought your e-book, 75 WAYS TO MAKE MONEY BLOGGING. I liked it enough to write a book review on it for my book review blog in the very near future. I’ll say right here it is worth the price.

    Now to the questions.

    1. May I place a link to your entry portal in the body of the review?
    2. How many of the listed affiliate programs have you used? Which ones?
    3. You recommend Affiliate Scout (.com) as a way to explore hundreds of affiliate programs but I did not find any affiliate programs but theirs. Do you have a link to the programs?

    Dear Colorado Girl,

Thanks for your message – I’m honored by your request! However, I can’t take on a writing project, as I’m already too busy with my own work.

I wish you all the best. Keep looking, and you WILL find the right co-author! Go to writers workshops or sessions at your local library, keep asking on writers’ websites, and consider putting an ad on Craigslist.

    Blessings,
    Laurie

    Laurie,

I’m currently reading a book by a well known Neurologist titled ‘The Midnight Disease. The Drive to Write, Writer’s Block, and the Creative Brain’. What is so interesting about this book is that in some ways, it pertains to me. I’ve always had a drive to write even though I never realized that my brain was hardwired to do so. I’ve been attempting to write a book for the past five years but have gotten only a small amount done. I have contacted authors to see if someone might be willing to be a coauthor but have not heard back. It is motivation I need. Someone to read what I have written and collaborate with me on it. Someone to push me when I put it away and someone to tell me to trash it when it is really not that good. Does that make sense?

I guess what I’m trying to say or ask is if you’d be interested in collaborating on a project by co-writing a book with me?

    Laurie,
I happen to come across your site on “How to Let Go of Someone You Love”, as I began to read I started crying because it impacted me. I fit this situation to a “T”, I’m in this situation as of lately. “She left But Didn’t Tell Me Why” a relationship with no closure.
I will purchase this book as means of healing.
Thank you, I hope to hear from you.

    Laurie,
I am currently doing an Extended Project in Psychology alongside my A-Levls at college, and i am doing it on differences in personlality of individuals in disrupted families and non-disrupted families. I therefore, am carrying out my own research and need a personality test, looking at introvert/extrovert levels. I found ‘A Test for Introverted Personality Traits’ that you had blogged, and i was wondering if you could give me your permission to use it in my own research? I will be sure to reference you as my source of the test if you were to do so.
    Many thanks :)

    Hi Laurie,

We are creating a tele-seminar for creative women entrepreneurs and would LOVE it if we could profile you around the article: Beauty form the inside out. We have some powerful and interesting women speaking (1/2 hour interview) around subjects such as living your creative edge, EFT for women in Transition, Creative Finacing etc. Your voice would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,

Laurie, love your posts. I find them really useful because they’re directly applicable to the business of writing. I’m trying to get into freelance science writing, but I don’t know where to find sources for stories. Everything I find online is, obviously, already published by someone else. At the moment I’m trawling through electronic databases for newly published primary research but I don’t seem to be getting anywhere. Would love a tip from you to help.
BTW, Q & T for Successful Writers and Storyfix (Larry Brooks) are my favourite writing blogs.

Thanks, Laurie, for your nice comments about my blog and thanks for linking to my Denis Ledoux book review. You’ve done an excellent job of commenting on writing a memoir without hurting someone. I don’t have anything substantive to add. May I have permission to repost it on my blog withl your byline, photo and link to your site? I would be happy to write something for you if you have an issue in mind.

Hi Laurie, I’ve seen a presentation you did last year at northern Voice. Are you by any chance interested on doing a presentatin at the Vancouver Webdesign Meetup? If so please email me and I will send you more details.

    Thank you for your attention.

    Hello,

I am looking for a professional who could give a snappy presentation on ‘tax tips for freelance writers’ in Vancouver. If you have any suggestions, could you please contact me via email. Many thanks!

    Hello Jon,

Typically, it’s the editor who sets the deadline….unless there are special circumstances…but normally, the editor does it.

    Laurie

  13. Laurie,

I was wondering who sets the deadlines. Is it the writer or the editor of freelance article?

    Thanks,

    Jon
