How Find God’s Will for Your Life – and Blossom!

Should you quit your job, leave a relationship, or move to a new city? What is God’s will for your life – and how will He direct and guide you? What signs will He give you, what doors will He open, where does He want your life to go?

how to find gods willBig questions, yes…but no clear answers.

Since you’re only give enough information to take one small step forward, you must stop searching for the sign that will remove all doubt or the insight that will bring you complete peace.

Instead, make it simple. Trust God enough to take a step forward in the direction that makes sense to you.

He created you, and He loves you dearly. His will for your life is not a mysterious puzzle to be solved .

Your decisions are God’s will – unless He restrains you

Oswald Chamber on God’s will for our lives:

“When you have a right-standing relationship with God, you have a life of freedom, liberty, and delight; you are God’s will. And all of your commonsense decisions are actually His will for you, unless you sense a feeling of restraint brought on by a check in your spirit. You are free to make decisions in the light of a perfect and delightful friendship with God, knowing that if your decisions are wrong He will lovingly produce that sense of restraint. Once he does, you must stop immediately.” – from Friendship with God.

Isn’t that beautiful? You are free to make decisions if you are friends with God. So, your purpose isn’t to find His will for your life…it’s to connect with Him, listen for His still small voice, and reach upwards throughout the day.

He will tell you if you’re going in the wrong direction. Remember how Jesus prayed for the cup to be removed, hours before he died on the cross? Even Jesus didn’t know in advance what God’s will for his life was…and even though he was sweating blood, he kept moving forward. If God wanted Jesus to move in a different direction, God woulda said so.

Take a step forward. My first step forward today is writing this blog post, trusting that it is God’s will. My next step is researching Rob Bell’s Finding Your Groove workshop.

What small step forward will you take today? It doesn’t have to be a life-changing event; just research one thing you’ve always wanted to do. See what happens next. Maybe something, maybe nothing…but you will be moving forward.

And that, my friend, is God’s will for your life.
