A Plan for Blossoming in a New Season

Last night Bruce and I were brainstorming reasons we don’t make positive changes in our lives (it was his birthday, and I like to keep things light and simple when we celebrate).

For example, we know we should do more yoga, eat less chocolate, watch fewer Facebook videos, spend less time passively watching tv, call our loved ones more often, and make smart decisions for our future.

Maybe we even know we should quit a job, leave an unhealthy relationship, pick up an old hobby, or take that trip to Italy before we say ciao to our youth.

And yet.

We don’t make changes because we struggle with:

blossoming in the new year

  • Fear of the unknown
  • Lack of vision
  • Lack of motivation
  • Lack of resources (time, money, energy, support)
  • Fear of risk
  • Fear of regret
  • Fear of failure

So we stay where we are – until the pain of staying where we are is worse than the pain of change.

Anais Nin said it best: “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

Blossoming in a New Season

“So what,” said I to Bruce, “can I do to help women Blossom?”

And voila! After 4 seconds minutes hours days months years of hibernating, wandering, planting, sowing and nurturing different ideas….it came to me!

I will share ideas and inspiration to help women over 40 make midlife changes, so they flourish in a new stage of life. That is the new focus of my Blossom in Life and Blossom in Love blogs, starting in January 2016.

But wait, there’s more…

Every day of the week is a new opportunity to keep planting seeds, watering, feeding and nurturing those wee buds. So every day, I will address one of the struggles above with the “weekly schedule” below.

Weekly Schedule for Blossom:

  • Monday is Vision
  • Tuesday is Dare
  • Wednesday is Prepare
  • Thursday is Leap
  • Friday is Persevere

Each day, I will address a different aspect of the struggle to make positive changes in our lives. I’ll share practical problems and solutions for moving forward.

This, my dear friends, is how I’m blossoming into a new season.

Question for you

What is holding you back from making a life change – whether it’s taking a painting class, buying a new house, or moving overseas? Comment below; I’d love to hear from you.

I can’t offer advice, but I am a good listener…

Blessings and Blossoms,

Laurie

PS This is the last Blossoms email update until January 5, 2016. I wish you a Merry Christmas, a refreshing break from the routine of daily life, and the peace of God throughout the holiday season.
